Update On Dad 04/26-05/02

So happy to visit with Dad last weekend!

So I wanted to give everyone a much needed update on my Dad! I went to visit him last weekend (4/25), and I am so excited with all the progress he is making! He has been able to slowly take steps (assisted).  He is currently seeing double right now. However, with his injury located in the part of the brain that controls eyesight this was expected. The double vision should improve as his brain heals. šŸ«¶šŸ¼ His head injury is also affecting his balance when he walks. So we are praying that his balance improves soon as well!

Watching the funeral service online

A few days after the accident Dad was made aware of Richard Miller’s passing.  I know that hurt his heart deeply. I was able to stay with him in the hospital while the rest of my family attended his funeral last Saturday (4/26). Dad and I watched the funeral live online together. It was so hard to watch, and I will continue to pray fervently for Richard’s family. He is in a much better place though.

One huge praise that we were rejoicing over last weekend was that he was walking on his own (with someone beside him just in case)! Such an amazing blessing!  I still can’t believe that he’s doing as well as he is.  He was just in critical condition not even 2 weeks ago!

I received an update from mom on the 28th that Dad was finally being moved to a rehabilitation center! Such a big step!  This is the next step to going home. šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

I am getting many updates from my mom about how his therapy is going. She said he is absolutely crushing it! He’s also realizing the different areas that this head injury is affecting him.  Now he can focus on strengthening those areas more. Doing two things at once is difficult right now.  He has to really focus on one thing at a time.  His processing is just slower right now, but should improve as he continues therapy.

Yesterday 5/1 I got an update from mom that He’s doing so well that the doctors have given him a release date of next Thursday 5/8! Amazing! I know he’s counting down the days to be back home. Such a huge answer to prayer! He’ll continue with outpatient therapy of course and need someone with him at all times.  However we are still so grateful and happy for his progress!

Taking a walk down the hallway!

Feeding Dad a smoothie!

While I was visiting last weekend, Dad could not eat any solid food yet due to failing the swallow test. He was able to eat purĆ©ed foods, but could not drink any liquid . During the swallow test they could see that he was silently aspirating while swallowing liquids. However, we received amazing news today (5/2).  He was able to pass the swallow test this morning and got the feeding tube out!  šŸ™ŒšŸ¼ I am so proud of my dad and can’t wait to go visit him again!

Thank you so much for all the prayers, messages, and well wishes! My family is so grateful for you all! We are getting our Dad back! šŸ˜

Wednesday (4/30) - Dad’s message to everyone who has had him in their prayers!

4/30 - Walking
