Cabo Family Vacation 2026
There is something so special about going on a vacation as a family. This winter break felt like such a gift. Justin and I are beyond thankful we were able to sneak away to Cabo with the kids for a full week together. After a smooth, uneventful travel day (always a win with kids), we arrived at The Ritz-Carlton Zadún, Reserve on Monday afternoon, ready to soak it all in.
From the moment we arrived, the resort completely wowed us. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, including all of our transportation for the week. Having them handle all the transportation to and from places made everything feel seamless, easy, and incredibly safe. That alone allowed us to truly relax.
We kept our first day simple and slow. After traveling, it felt so good to just settle in and breathe. One of the biggest highlights? The private pool right outside our accommodations. It was perfect. The kids could slip right out the door and swim while we lounged nearby. Talk about the ideal setup for both fun and relaxation! Our room also came with a 24/7 butler, which was so helpful.
That evening, we wandered down to the beach just in time to take in the views. Honestly, pictures don’t do it justice. The sunsets every evening were absolutely breathtaking. We then changed for dinner and enjoyed dinner together! We ate at a restaurant on the resort called Hemu. What a great atmosphere! It was the perfect start to an incredible week.
On Tuesday morning, we started a vacation rhythm. Justin and I went out early in the mornings for a quick workout at the fitness center before the kids were fully up and moving. We preferred getting our bodies moving early so we didn’t have to come back after the long days and try to fit it in. Afterward, we all went to breakfast, which quickly became one of our favorite parts of the day. Truly, the resort breakfast was amazing. Every single one of us loved it, and that says a lot.
The kids were thrilled that Tuesday’s agenda was just a full pool and beach day. No reservations. No excursions. No rushing. We claimed our spots by the pool and stayed there for hours. While rotating between the pool and the beach, we just soaked up every minute. Lunch by the pool was definitely a highlight.
A couple of fun mentions from the day: I brought along this clear protein drink that ended up being a total win. It was light, refreshing, and such an easy way to get protein in without feeling heavy in the heat. We all loved it. Also I found the cutest SPF sparkle powder that worked so well. The girls were obsessed. Sun protection, but make it fun.
Tuesday night, we headed to Cabo Surf Hotel for dinner at their onsite restaurant, 7 Seas Seafood Grille. The atmosphere was calm and cozy, the perfect setting for a relaxed evening. My one tip: plan to arrive at least 30–45 minutes before sunset so you can catch the views. We hit traffic and just missed it (lesson learned!), but even without the sunset, the scenery was incredible. After dinner, we enjoyed lingering by one of their fire pits for a while.
One thing we really loved about the resort was the pool setup. They have both a family pool and an adults-only pool, which is such a thoughtful option. If you’re traveling without kids, that adults pool would be perfect for a calm and relaxing afternoon.
Wednesday started out exactly like Tuesday featuring a beautiful early morning sunrise. Honestly, the sunrise every single morning was incredible. Justin and I hit the fitness center and then took the kids down for another round of that incredible breakfast. It was a hit every day. That day I wore the prettiest blue swimsuit that quickly became a favorite of the trip — and these sunglasses that I basically had on repeat all week.
Wednesday evening, we headed to Toro Latin Kitchen for dinner. The atmosphere was stunning, such a cool, elevated vibe without feeling stuffy. The terrace was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush gardens that made the whole evening feel special.
Thursday was boat day, and we had been counting down to it all week. We booked everything directly through the resort (which made it so easy), and before we knew it, we were heading out for five hours on the beautiful Sea of Cortez. There is just something about being out on the water that feels freeing. The views were unreal, and seeing the iconic El Arco de Cabo San Lucas in person was such a cool moment. It’s one of those landmarks you’ve seen in photos, but experiencing it up close is completely different. Watching the whales was surreal. We were able to see them surface so close to the boat. A core memory for sure.
The tour provided drinks, snacks, and lunch, which was so nice Not having to pack food or think about any of that for the day made it that much more relaxing. We could just enjoy being together. After hours on the water, we were exhausted and ready to head back to shore.
That evening we kept things easy and ate at Equis, another restaurant right on the resort. It was delicious, and the perfect low-key ending after a big day. And as if the day hadn’t already been sweet enough, the resort set out everything for s’mores that night. The kids were thrilled. Nothing like roasting marshmallows under the beautiful night sky to end a perfect evening.
Friday brought a little change of pace, and we were ready for it. Instead of our usual early gym and breakfast routine, we ordered breakfast to the room because we had an early meet-up time for our hiking adventure. We booked our excursion with INCABO, and they were incredible from start to finish. They handled transportation, packed snacks and drinks, and even provided lunch for the day. We loved being able to just show up and enjoy! Our guide was really great, and we just had such an incredible day.
Our first “official” stop? Ice cream. Which, as you can imagine, was a hit with the kids. From there, we hiked to Santa Rita Hot Springs. Wow! The mix of hot springs and fresh, cool water was such a unique experience. Jay spent the longest time trying to catch fish and was completely in his element.
After lunch, we continued on to Zorro Canyon Waterfall. The hike itself was very easy. The kids hiked in crocs and had no complaints. It truly was an all-day adventure though, so if you book it, don’t plan anything else. You’ll be happy, but exhausted by the end. Since everything was provided, all we needed were towels and sunscreen, which is the way we like it!
That evening, we headed to Flora Farms for dinner. The atmosphere alone is worth the visit. With a play area for the kids, shopping, and even a live band, the whole place was magical. It would be a great place for lunch too!!
Saturday was our intentional slow-down day. After a week full of adventure, we decided our last full day needed to be all about the pool. Just relaxing around the resort and soaking in every last bit of sunshine.
Later that afternoon, we went shopping in downtown San Jose del Cabo, which was perfect for souvenir hunting. So many little shops for the kids to pick out fun things to bring home. If you’re more into high-end luxury shopping, I’d suggest heading toward Cabo San Lucas instead.
We stayed in town for dinner at La Lupita, a super authentic Mexican spot known for some of the best tacos around. I personally am not a huge fan of true authentic Mexican food but if you are, it would be right up your alley! It was lively, with a mariachi band, indoor and outdoor areas to hang out. It’s very popular (for good reason), so definitely make reservations ahead of time. This was such a fun way to spend our last night out.
Thankfully, we didn’t have an early flight home, so Sunday morning was slow and relaxing. We enjoyed one last breakfast at the resort followed by a little beach time and then a little pool time. After that it was packing up and heading home.
This trip truly felt like the perfect family vacation. Just enough adventure and activities to make it exciting and just enough downtime at the beach and pool to truly relax and enjoy. It was everything we wanted for our time away. Justin and I will definitely be heading back with the kids!
