Park City Family Ski Weekend

My family and I just returned from the most magical family ski trip to Park City, Utah, and it was truly everything we hoped for and more. On the first night we went to Woodward Park for some snow tubing.   What a blast!  It was the perfect way to start our snow filled weekend.

We stayed the weekend at Stein Eriksen Lodge, and I honestly can’t imagine a better place for a family ski vacation. We absolutely loved it.  It’s a ski-in/ski-out resort, which makes everything so easy with kids. Our lift tickets were through Deer Valley, giving us access to all of the mountain, and we rented all of our ski gear directly through them as well.  I highly recommend doing this.

I want to quickly mention one important thing.  Deer Valley is ski-only, so if anyone in your group snowboards, you’ll want to venture over to Park City Mountain Resort or one of the other nearby resorts instead.

We booked ski lessons for all of us through Deer Valley, and I cannot recommend their ski school enough. Justin and I each did half-day lessons, while the kids were enrolled in the all-day Adventure Camp.  Let me tell you, they absolutely loved it. It was nice to know that they were learning, having fun, and being well taken care of while we got some great ski time!

We literally never left the resort the entire weekend because we didn’t need to. Everything was right there.  They have heated outdoor pools and hot tubs that are open year-round, which was the perfect way to relax after long days on the slopes.  We also ate all of our meals at the lodge, and the food was amazing. Their casual restaurant, Champions, was a favorite because it has a free arcade for the kids to play while we waited for our food. (While we ate all of our meals on-site this trip to make it easier, there are many great local restaurants around this area. I included some of the top recommendations for casual dining in the area at the end of this blog.) The resort also has a free-style movie theater where they play movies every night from 6–8 PM, which makes for the perfect family wind-down activity in the evenings.

Wow! We really found that Stein Eriksen Lodge really shines in the details.  Fresh coffee is available in the lobby every single morning, along with hot cocoa in the afternoons and evenings.  Who doesn’t love something hot to drink after coming in from the cold?!  Their  complimentary breakfast buffet every morning was from 7–10 AM.  It was amazing. We ate there every day, and it made mornings so easy with kids.

To summarize quickly, this trip was the perfect mix of luxury, convenience, and family fun. Between the ski-in/ski-out access, incredible ski school, family-friendly amenities, and thoughtful touches throughout the lodge, Stein Eriksen Resort truly gave us an unforgettable experience.  We will for sure be going back. If you’re planning a family ski trip to Park City, Deer Valley (and Stein Eriksen Lodge) should definitely be on your list.
